NCAA Tourney

Posted in: Hunter

THE BEST TIME OF THE  YEAR IS HERE!  Seriously I look forward to this ALL year.  It’s the beginning of nice weather AND the boss expects you to waste time watching NCAA games.  How great is this?

So far…(1 game in) my bracket is busted!  ND lost (thanks) and BYU v. Florida is in double OT.  Villanova is tied with 1:30 to go.  Bracket is busted BUT it’s still sunny and 65 out.  How could you NOT love this?

I knew it!!  So do you think the more cats you have the smarter you are?  Because if that’s the case, I’ll brilliant!!

From www.theAnimalRescueSite.com:

Study shows cat people tend to be more academic

Feb 26, 2010 7:45:25 AM

Though the cats versus dogs debate has been waged for centuries, scientists in the UK suggest that your choice in pet may indicate a lot about who you are as a person.

A study, which was conducted at Bristol University and published in the Veterinary Record, revealed that 47 percent of households with a cat had a resident with a college education, while only 38 percent of homes with dogs had a degree holder.

Jane Murray, who led the study, suggested that the disparity could be a result of the fact that those who have a college diploma are more likely to work long hours.

So why do academics prefer feline friends? “It is unlikely to be related to household income. . . but it could be related to household members with longer working hours having less time available to care for a dog,” said Muray.

In addition, the information collected found that women under the age of 65 were most likely to own a pet, while dogs are more commonly owned by those who live in rural areas or have access to a garden.

If you decide to adopt a pet from a local animal rescue shelter, consider the time and space that you have to offer a furry friend before taking the cat or dog of your choice home. ADNFCR-2796-ID-19638698-ADNFCR

As many of you know, I am a HUGE fan of “Buffy the Vampire Slayer” and I know some of you are too!  Didn’t have time for this in my Dirt report this morning but if you love “Buffy” like me, you’ll find this interesting and a little sad too.  I love Xander. *Sigh*

Xander From “Buffy The Vampire Slayer” Enjoyed Some Alcohol . . . And Ended Up Being Tased By Police

NICHOLAS BRENDON . . . who played Xander on “Buffy the Vampire Slayer” . . . had to be

tased by police, after getting a little too drunk on Tuesday night.

–According to reports, police found him while responding to a disturbing the peace complaint in

Venice, California. There was some sort of melee . . . in which Nicholas allegedly took a swing at

a cop, and then tried to flee the scene.

–Eventually, the police needed to use a stun gun . . . twice . . . to subdue him. He was arrested and

booked for felony vandalism. Apparently, he damaged some property during his wild escape

attempt.

It’s unclear whether he’ll face additional charges . . . particularly regarding the alleged

attempt to assault a police officer.

Governor Mitch Daniels stopped by Z99.5’s Smiley Morning Show this morning and responded to a listener’s question about who he was picking in the NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament (remember, the Final 4 will be played in Indianapolis).  The governor’s comments were obviously meant as a friendly poke at our southern neighbor; but, I guess the Wildcats just don’t have a sense of humor.

Click here to watch video from LEX18, WLEX-TV/Lexington (embed not supported, you may need to watch a brief commercial before the video plays).

I wonder if these comments will someday cost our man Mitch those valuable 8 Electoral Votes from Kentucky?  :)

To celebrate you should cook with an Irish orginal – Guinness.  Here are 10 recipes to try:

1. Beef Braised in Guinness. Chunks of beef are browned with bacon and onions, then braised until tender in Guinness and beef stock.

2. Irish Cheddar and Stout Fondue. A perfect St. Patrick’s Day party dish, this fondue uses Irish cheddar and stout in place of the traditional Gruyère and white wine.

3. Warm German Potato Salad. Try using Guinness for the tangy beer sauce that’s tossed with warm potato slices, fresh herbs, bacon, and hard-boiled eggs in this hearty side dish.

4. Chocolate Guinness Cupcakes. Guinness’s chocolaty-coffee undertones make it a natural fit for chocolate desserts. Here, cupcakes get a flavor boost with the addition of stout, then are finished off with a smooth cream cheese frosting.

5. Welsh Rarebit Bites. Toasted slices of baguette are topped with a melty cheddar, Guinness, and mustard sauce for an easy hors d’oeuvre.

6. Guinness Stout Marinade. Guinness, lime juice, and fresh herbs are blended together for an all-purpose beef marinade.

7. Guinness–Milk Chocolate Ice Cream. This unusual ice cream features the hearty flavor of Guinness blended with creamy milk chocolate and a hint of vanilla.

8. Guinness Pub Burgers. Adding Guinness to these burgers keeps them juicy and enhances their beefiness.

9. Gingerbread with Stout. Stout gives this gingerbread a dark, rich flavor and keeps it from being too sweet.

10. Cheddar Beer Dip with Smoked Sausage. A bubbling cheese dip full of hearty stout and smoked sausage bits, good served with pretzels or cut-up vegetables.
