Chris Rock on Tiger Woods     Ever since Tiger Woods became the modern day Lionel Ritchie and got the bejesus beat out of him by his wife, there has been lots of talk. However, I am reminded of an old skit on “The Chris Rock Show” that really sums up what Tiger Woods means to society. Sit back and enjoy this clip from 1997. GOOD STUFF!

So…Black Friday came and went and honestly, went well.  The numbers came back and sales were up slightly at stores and BIG online.  Today is “Cyber-Monday” — will you buy something online to do just to do it?  I go to Black Friday just to buy something…not sure I’ll buy something online today for the same reason.  Will you?

I don’t think I am the first or the last to say this, but leftovers after Thanksgiving rock! Eating so much food in one day, going to sleep and then, waking up and doing it again may be the best 2 days of the year. I have gained 28 pounds in the last 24 hours!! :)   Leftovers RULE!

Now, if you will excuse me, I have some pie to finish.

It’s not too often that I would sign a band most people don’t know and that doesn’t even have a song on the radio yet to be part of our Jingle Jam concert.  Vedera is worth making the exception.  They’ve been touring non-stop since releasing their first EP in 2004, most recently on the road with Matt Nathanson and The Fray, winning over fans one at a time.  Kristin May, the band’s vocalist, sings with incredible passion and an amazing range.  It doesn’t hurt that she’s pretty darn cute, too … but, sorry guys, she’s married to the band’s guitarist.

Their major-label release Stages (Epic Records) is out now and they’re poised to hit the airwaves with “Satisfy” as the debut single.  Check it out and let me know if we should play them on Z99.5 … If you’re lucky enough to have Jingle Jam tickets, I believe this will be a band that you can brag about seeing first!

Vedera joins The Elms, Five for Fighting, Barenaked Ladies, & All American Rejects on December 9 at the Murat Theatre.  Doors open at 5:45pm, Show begins at 6:30pm.  Sold out, listen to win!

If you are heading out on the road this Thanksgiving, you want to make sure it won’t cost extra in the form of a traffic ticket.  AOL Autos has come up with Five Tips that will help you avoid a ticket this holiday weekend:

1.  Don’t Drive Too Slowly.  Speeding can get you a ticket, but so can driving too slowly.  If you are not keeping up with the flow of traffic, it may signal to a cop that you’re driving under the influence.
2.  Don’t Drive Tired.  If you are tired from the turkey it may make you less alert and slow your reaction times.
3.  Thanksgiving Isn’t Just Thursday.  Cops will be out all weekend starting tonight through Monday morning.  Be aware.
4.  Don’t Blame You’re Speeding On Dinner Time.  If you are caught speeding, don’t make any excuses at all.  They won’t work, since it’s not the cop’s fault you’re running late.
5.  Watch for Checkpoints.  Some police forces have started setting up random checkpoints in heavily trafficked areas.  The point is to catch drunk drivers with their pants down (or in this case unbuckled after the big Turkey meal.)

Happy Thanksgiving and Be Safe on the road!

I’m always thinking about how to make the holidays less stressful on my furry family members! Here are some ways to keep your pet safe this Thanksgiving  from the ASPCA

Thanksgiving Safety Tips

Thanksgiving Dog

‘Tis the season for friends, family and holiday feasts—but also for possible distress for our animal companions. Pets won’t be so thankful if they munch on undercooked turkey or a pet-unfriendly floral arrangement, or if they stumble upon an unattended alcoholic drink.

Check out the following tips from ASPCA experts for a fulfilling Thanksgiving that your pets can enjoy, too.

Talkin’ Turkey
If you decide to feed your pet a little nibble of turkey, make sure it’s boneless and well-cooked. Don’t offer her raw or undercooked turkey, which may contain salmonella bacteria.

Sage Advice
Sage can make your Thanksgiving stuffing taste delish, but it and many other herbs contain essential oils and resins that can cause gastrointestinal upset and central nervous system depression to pets if eaten in large quantities. Cats are especially sensitive to the effects of certain essential oils.

No Bread Dough
Don’t spoil your pet’s holiday by giving him raw bread dough. According to ASPCA experts, when raw bread dough is ingested, an animal’s body heat causes the dough to rise in his stomach. As it expands, the pet may experience vomiting, severe abdominal pain and bloating, which could become a life-threatening emergency, requiring surgery.

Don’t Let Them Eat Cake
If you’re baking up Thanksgiving cakes, be sure your pets keep their noses out of the batter, especially if it includes raw eggs—they could contain salmonella bacteria that may lead to food poisoning.

Too Much of a Good Thing
A few small boneless pieces of cooked turkey, a taste of mashed potato or even a lick of pumpkin pie shouldn’t pose a problem. However, don’t allow your pets to overindulge, as they could wind up with a case of stomach upset, diarrhea or even worse—an inflammatory condition of the pancreas known as pancreatitis. In fact, it’s best keep pets on their regular diets during the holidays.

A Feast Fit for a Kong
While the humans are chowing down, give your cat and dog their own little feast. Offer them Nylabones or made-for-pet chew bones. Or stuff their usual dinner—perhaps with a few added tidbits of turkey, vegetables (try sweet potato or green beans) and dribbles of gravy—inside a Kong toy. They’ll be happily occupied for awhile, working hard to extract their dinner from the toy.

Indianapolis Colts and NFL MVP TE #44 Dallas Clark is a big man.  So, I’m REALLY glad he’s got a sense of humor.

Yesterday, during our 13th Annual Request-a-thon to benefit the Make A Wish Foundation of Indiana, Dallas was in the studio (as he is every year during the Request-a-thon).  And, I may have kind of somewhat insulted him a little.  It was just a joke!  Let me explain …

For the past two or three years, Dallas and his wife have suggested we use a song by Ryan Shupe called “Dream Big as the Request-a-thon “theme song.”  I’ve always said no because it wasn’t a hit song anybody would know; but, it does have a great message.  Smiley took it upon himself this year to play a few times.  Because it did fit our goals perfectly, Dallas & Smiley took the opportunity to rub my nose in the fact they were right.  I couldn’t just sit back and let them insult me without fighting back a little.  And, that’s when I blurted this out …

Scott jokes with Dallas Clark

Luckily, for me, Dallas has a great sense of humor and knew I was joking.  Otherwise, he could have easily pounded me like a tackling dummy.  This week, I’m sure Dallas will have more than the 50-yards the Patriots held him to last week.  Go Colts and Go #44, we love you!  Thanks for all you do to support the Make A Wish Foundation.
